Is there an alternative, healthy, super sustainable way to do agriculture?
Of course, with the synergistic vegetable garden mechanisms of self-fertility of the soil are promoted, without any effort. Say goodbye to plowing and chemical fertilizers, just associate particular plants for every need.
Synergistic agriculture is a cultivation method that promotes the mechanisms of self-fertility of the soil through biodiversity, the total absence of tillage, the use of permanent organic mulch.
First you need to create the "pallets", that is, permanent cultivation beds about 60 centimeters high and about 120 centimeters wide where you can plant vegetables and aromatic medicinal plants in close succession and close together.
The plants, thanks to the work of the roots, to the organic residues degraded by microorganisms, bacteria, fungi and earthworms, create the natural fertility of the soil.
The synergistic vegetable garden aims to create a balance between plants, fungi, bacteria and insects through the presence of associated plants.
It is a cultural technique based on the synergy between some plants which, if grown together, benefit each other.
The best associations are:
• Lettuce with onions, turnips, leeks, peas, strawberries, fennel, cabbage;
• Garlic and onions with carrot;
• Roses with garlic;
• Strawberries with garlic, onion, chives and leek;
• Potatoes with cabbage and green beans;
• Carrots with garlic, onion, leek and eggplant;
• Beets with cabbage, onion and green beans;
• Cucumber with cabbage and green beans;
• Corn with pumpkin and green beans;
• Celery with beans and all the cabbages;
• Chervil and radishes;
• Oregano and cucurbits;
Here are some examples:
1. tomato and parsley
2. cabbage and oregano
3. lettuce with celery, tomato, turnip and parsley
4. green beans and fennel
5. tomato - cabbage-turnips
The effects of the best vegetable associations are nullified by chemical pesticide treatments, but they retain all their effectiveness in organic gardening.
The prerequisite of the associations is the minimum vital competition and food competition. The synergistic vegetable garden is an innovative method to achieve high quality production while respecting the environment, people and animals.
