GECO EXPO

First day of GECO Expo! Here is the agenda for March 1st

This is it! GECO Expo starts tomorrow, with a packed calendar of events featuring top experts. Here's what you can expect from the first day of the largest international, entirely virtual trade fair dedicated to sustainability.

Climate crisis: how is our planet doing? Zeroing co2 emissions is not enough. Innovative solutions for the storage and reuse of co2

Time: 9:30 - 11:00

The first round table of the day, and therefore of the entire exhibition, is dedicated to renewable energies and specifically to emissions and the climate crisis. The targets on emissions are very ambitious, but cutting them down to zero is not enough: different and innovative solutions are needed, especially in the corporate and industrial environment, to counter the rise of global temperatures. In this panel, our experts will talk about emissions reduction, absorption and offsetting.

The debate, moderated by bio-architect and green communicator Gianni Terenzi, will be attended by Prof. Stefano Caserini, Professor of Climate Change Mitigation at the Milan Polytechnic, Andrea Pesce, CEO and founder of ZeroCO2, Huffpost journalist Rudi Bressa, Andrea Ronchi, founder of CO2 Advisor, and Luca Mercalli, President of the Italian Meteorological Society.

Renewable energy communities: at what point we are, opportunities and how to increase their development

Time: 11:15 - 12:45

We will continue to talk about renewable energy in the second panel of the day, focusing on the need to accelerate the energy transition, in a context where renewable energy is now the only sustainable alternative for the planet. In this panel discussion, our experts will analyse the interesting phenomenon of renewable energy communities: groups of citizens, businesses, enterprises and local institutions that pool their resources to equip themselves with renewable and sustainable energy systems. The event will be moderated by Cristina Ceresa, journalist and editor-in-chief of Green Planner. Participants will include the president of Anie Rinnovabili Alberto Pinori, the pro-rector for sustainability and dean of the faculty of architecture at La Sapienza University of Rome Livio de Santoli, the managing director of Ancitel Energia & Ambiente Srl Giuseppe Rinaldi, and the senior consultant of Sorgenia Fabrizio Prestinoni.

Bikeconomy and slow mobility: sustainability's driving force

Time: 14:15 - 15:15

Sustainable mobility is a key theme of GECO Expo and, on this first day, we will be addressing it by talking about Bikeconomy, i.e. the economic ecosystem that is created and developed around cycling as a means of transport. Sustainable mobility is linked to many other aspects of an environmentally aware society, such as experiential tourism, urban redevelopment, job creation and smart cities. The debate, moderated by Sole24Ore journalist and co-author of "Bikeconomy" Pierangelo Soldavini, will be held, as always, by exceptional speakers, including Laura Esposito, Sustainability Manager at TIM, Ludovica Casellati, founder of the Luxury Bike Hotel, Gianluca Santilli, president of the Bikeconomy observatory, and Nicole Hablé, senior advisor for economic affairs and sustainable mobility at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Sindaco pedala! The social challenge between italian mayors to promote cycling

Time: 15:15 - 15:35

This green talk is dedicated to a project that challenges the mayors of Italian municipalities to experience their city on a bicycle, to understand how cyclists inhabit urban spaces, and then share their experience on social media. This is a social challenge created by Sottosopra Comunicazione in collaboration with the Comuni Virtuosi association.

The project will be presented by Elena Milazzo, CEO and co-founder of the bike-friendly communication agency Sottosopra Comunicazione, and Marco Boschini, national coordinator of the Comuni Virtuosi Association.

From storytelling to storymaking: what an impact on the "destiny brand" of our madeinitaly and international cultural-tourism heritage?

Time: 15:40 - 17:00

Another round table will take place in the afternoon, dedicated to the thematic area of sustainable tourism and MICE. Specifically, the role of storytelling and storymaking in the communication of the tourism business will be discussed, focusing on post-pandemic communication. How can these activities and the promotion of Made in Italy influence the development of sustainable tourism in Italy?

The debate, moderated by Consultancy Lab CEO Olimpia Ponno, will be attended by Sebastiano Venneri, Head of Territory and Innovation for Legambiente, Giulia Trombin, co-founder and COO of Sharewood, Imma Romano, Director of Institutional Relations and Communication for Codere Italia and Francesco Rotolo, founder and head of strategy at Storyfly.

Hospitality B.E.D.N.A.S.: the requalification of the tourism & event industry starts here!

Time: 17:15 - 18:30

In the final round table of the day, we will be discussing tourism again, but also events, focusing in particular on the revival of this industry in the post-pandemic era. Relaunching an industry, after all, means working off alternative models, oriented towards sustainability and biodiversity. How have the market, the customers, and the public's needs changed? The discussion, moderated once again by Olimpia Ponno, will be held by PromoTurismoFVG's marketing director Bruno Bertero, Modul Point Group's R&D manager Nicola Rancan, and Switzerland Tourism's development director Letizia Elia.
